Massage Therapists often feel as though the state of their business is a statement about the quality of their work; "if my work was good enough, I would naturally be busier".
However, this couldn't be further from the truth. The state of your business is only a statement about the skill and effort you are putting towards your business! Many excellent LMT's never make it on their own, and find allot of success working at a spa/clinic. Similarly, relatively poor, (or more aptly, lets say uninspired) LMT's can make a great living on their own, if they are working the business side of thing excellently.A massage therapist often feels as though they weren't trained to make it on their own.
That they are missing something, something essential to their success. Unfortunately, unless you went to an amazing massage school, or even if you did, they in all likelihood did not adequately prepare you for the long journey of creating the massage practice that you know is possible for you.
It takes skill, knowledge, grit, and relationships to succeed over the long run.If I am ever feeling down in my journey, I go back to a book that was given to me in my business and ethics class in school. I have a good laugh reading, because it is so obvious the knowledge is stale, and well, fluffy. I don't know about you, but I believe I will succeed. However, without knowledge, skill, and concrete actions to take, that belief won't materialize.
This is a blog that catalogs the thoughts and musings of a man on a mission to create more independent massage therapists in the world through education and tools.

Counsiling
We all need some coaching and counseling every now and again. This is especially true when you are dealing with the stresses of creating and maintaining your own massage business. All small and independent business carry with them the stress of feeling like it is all up to you, but this can be especially true for massage therapists for several reasons.
